Chicago is known as the Windy City, but its skyscrapers have created their own micro-climate. Heading south on Lake Shore Drive, it is not unusual to see the John Hancock Center and surrounding buildings engulfed in fog and mist, only to head down LaSalle and see blue sky south of Chicago Avenue. Last week, it was the Willis Tower that went in and out of gusts of fog following a rush hour downpour.
