1550 North State Parkway is about as classic and high-end as Chicago residential architecture goes.  Bordering the southend of Lincoln Park, the building glows in the afternoon sunlight.  It was designed by famed Chicago architect Benjamin Marshall.  According to the Economist, in 1920, 1550 had the most distinguished list of tenants in Chicago.  (Source, Neil Harris, Chicago Apartments: A Century of Luxury on the Lakefront, Acanthus Press 2004).

Over the years, I have made many attempts to photograph 1550, but ugly cars, foliage, and softball players have prevented me from capturing 1550's stately serenity.  I came close yesterday by switching my position and time--looking southeast in the late afternoon--but I was still not happy with the resulting photograph.  It will take a tech camera to do 1550 justice.  I did capture this nice image of the main entrance.

The building that I live in is sometimes mistaken as 1550's sibling, but my building was designed by Peter J. Weber and completed in 1921. Moreover, 1550's facade is brick and terra cotta.  My building facade is brick and limestone.
