Outbound

The day started out rather temperate, but by 4:00PM, a cold front had moved in, sending temperatures plummeting.  Good light often accompanies a change in temperature, as it did today.

I had thought about this photograph for sometime, even experimenting with it last summer.  I arrived on location around 4:30PM, and stayed for about an hour.  I never moved the tripod, but toward the end of the hour I did shift the horizontal plane.

The light was fascinating.  When I arrived, it was beautiful, but I only got one shot in after setting up before everything turned blah.  Unfortunately, the lens was not properly seated--I was at 1 on the white section of the lens rather than the 4.5 mark that usually means that I have obtained focus, so I knew something was wrong.  I then waited 40 minutes, and as the sun got between the clouds and the horizon, the reverse sunset returned (looking east).  By the time I packed it in, my hands were frozen.
