Saturday, I attended Donald J. Trump’s parade honoring the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday, which just so happened to coincide with Trump’s 79th birthday. Here are my thoughts about and images from what is best characterized as Trump’s Folly.
Last Saturday, before Donald J. Trump’s $45 million dollar 79th birthday bash (i.e., military parade), I covered a Refuse Fascism rally and march that ended within “sight and sound” of the White House. Here are my thoughts about and images from the event.
Before Donald J. Trump’s vanity parade this past Saturday, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund held its annual In Memory Day ceremony. Rather than holding it at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on the National Mall, VVMF was forced by the Secret Service to move the ceremony to Alexandria, Virginia. Here are my thoughts about and images from this moving remembrance.
During the four days preceding Donald J. Trump’s military parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday and his 79th birthday, I spent considerable time walking the streets of Washington, D.C. (when I was not on Capitol Hill advocating for Ukraine). Assuming the role of street photographer, I captured demonstrations, press conferences and other First Amendment activity. Here are my thoughts about and images of the many delights I encountered.
During the week of June 10, 2025, I was in Washington, D.C. taking part in an advocacy campaign on behalf of Ukraine. We met with House and Senate members, as well as their staffs. The week’s highlight was having the opportunity to watch a screening of Bernard-Henri Lévy’s new documentary, Our War. Here are my thoughts about and images from what was referred to as Ukrainian Days.
I spent five days in Washington, D.C. covering the 2025 Trump Inauguration. I attended the People’s March on Saturday, tried to get into the Trump Victory Rally on Sunday, and attended a non-denominational service featuring the Reverend Al Sharpton on Monday—Trump had canceled the outdoor ceremony. Here are my thoughts from the weekend, together with my images.
Once again, I was on 6th Avenue in New York City’s Greenwich Village for the annual Village Halloween Parade, where over one million spectators and participants joined me, everyone of us seeking a brief respite from the two-year lead-up to next Tuesday’s presidential election. Here are my thoughts about and observations from the festive evening.
It was a frightful night in NYC’s West Village, but I survived with some thoughts and photographs. Click on the image to find out whether I was bitten by a rabid monster.
