The Money Shot

During the four days preceding Donald J. Trump’s military parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday and his 79th birthday, I spent considerable time walking the streets of Washington, D.C. (when I was not on Capitol Hill advocating for Ukraine). Assuming the role of street photographer, I captured demonstrations, press conferences and other First Amendment activity. Here are my thoughts about and images of the many delights I encountered.

Peruvian Protest

While headed north from the Lower East Side, I found myself in New York City’s Union Square today, where about 25 demonstrators were holding a rally in support of Peruvian President Pedro Castillo Terrones, who was ousted from office and imprisoned during a December 7, 2022 coup. Here are my thoughts about and images from this demonstration.

Hunger Strike Outside the White House

While in Washington, D.C. this past week, I stumbled upon several Uyghur activists across the street from the White House. Four of the demonstrators had begun a hunger strike two days earlier. New Jersey Congressman Christopher Smith was the featured speaker. Although the gathering was small, it was one of the more emotional demonstrations I have attended. Here are my thoughts and images.
