Before Donald J. Trump’s vanity parade this past Saturday, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund held its annual In Memory Day ceremony. Rather than holding it at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on the National Mall, VVMF was forced by the Secret Service to move the ceremony to Alexandria, Virginia. Here are my thoughts about and images from this moving remembrance.

During the four days preceding Donald J. Trump’s military parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday and his 79th birthday, I spent considerable time walking the streets of Washington, D.C. (when I was not on Capitol Hill advocating for Ukraine). Assuming the role of street photographer, I captured demonstrations, press conferences and other First Amendment activity.
