Gutsy Protest

I was headed downtown today to photograph the cold.  As the 146 bus approached the Wrigley building I noticed, to my delight, a demonstration across Michigan Avenue, in the plaza that abuts the Tribune Tower and the international style Equitable Building, which is just south of the Tribune Tower.  Leave it to the hardy supporters of the Iranian people and recent protests in Iran to brave the below-zero wind chill on this bright Saturday afternoon.  I imagine some of those folks fall into Trump's most despised categories: immigrants and Muslims.  Ironically, Trump agrees with their viewpoint even though he hates them.  Nice to see those folks exercising their rights.

I like this photograph, but this was hardly an event that was going to produce a wonderful series of photographs:  The crowd was small, everyone was huddled together, apparently looking for warmth from the mass, and heavy coats were in abundance.  Yet, at noon, the sun is high in the sky and the cold air doesn't hold particulate, resulting in a clear and contrasty image.  I love how the signs pop.
