On August 2 and 3, 2021, the CTA moved The Vautravers Building located at the corner of Clark and Newport 35 feet to the west so that the curve in the Red Line ‘L’ tracks could be straightened out. Wolf House and Building Movers engineered and handled the move using state-of-the-art equipment. The move was part of the $570 million Brown Line Flyover Project. Preparations for the move began in April 2021.
Photobombed. Jack Siegel has been out with camera in hand virtually everyday for the last two weeks. Here are some of the images that he has made on his outings. Covid-19, Black Lives Matter, and Economic Decline continue to predominate.
The CTA Skokie Repair Shops are where the Chicago Transit Authority repairs train cars, switches, and other mechanicals. The facility is spotless and well organized, as well as colorful.
I decided to ride the “L” today with my new Sony RX 100vii point and shoot camera. When I got home, I had a lot of junk—as I expected—and some gems.

Just finished a glass of Sauvignon Blanc at the rooftop bar of the recently opened Ace Hotel in the West Loop on Morgan Street. The bar opened August 10. Then headed over to the 'L' to get the long view of the Lake Street elevated line.

Regular readers have seen this photograph before, but this one is very different from the earlier one. It's later afternoon, with the sun streaming in between two skyscrapers, providing a wonderful glow to the scene.
